Freedom
fighters are the great men/women that brought us glory and freedom from
the then Ruthless Britishers. British Rule or more commonly known as
“British Raj” was brought to end mainly because of these Freedom
Fighters. They deployed all sought of strategies which included both
Physical and Psychological tricks to get India independence. There were
once these biographical movies which were made on these Freedom Fighters
but today we don’t see them any more, they have just got limited to
some historical books. It is because of these brave men that we enjoy
our rights today and are able to lead a life full of amenities and in
some case luxuries. Also we know that these Freedom Fighters wouldn’t
have dream’t of the India the way it has become today (Thanks to the
Politicians) but also a lot of their dreams would have certainly been
fulfilled.

10. Gopal Krishna Gokhale
Gopal
Krishna Gokhale was one of the earliest freedom fighters who revolted
against the British Rule and fought for India’s independence. He founded
Servants of India Society and fought against
social discrimination’s like untouchability and discrimination. He
strictly practiced non violence and wanted to bring in social reform
with in the Functional society of India. He was also one of the founders
of the very famous Indian National Congress. His verbal attack and
rivalry against Bal Gangadhar Tilak affected his repute.
9. Bal Gangadhar Tilak
Bal
Gangadhar Tilak was a Social Reformer and an Indian Freedom Fighter, he
wanted every individual to have his/her complete rights and was against
discrimination for caste an color. Bal Gangadhar Tilak had amassed huge
following of people of India and thus was able to carry on protests
against British Government with ease. He was also known as the “Father
of the Indian unrest” and fought for Swaraj (self-rule). He is one of
the major candidate for the Greatest Freedom Fighters of India and he
had an important role in the freedom of India.
8. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
Vallabhbhai
Patel popularly known as Sardar (leader) by his followers was a man of
beliefs. He was also known as the Iron Man of India since he believed in
unified India and fought against British Rule with immense supremacy.
He fought for Social rights of peasants and helped them fight back
against Britishers in Peaceful and non violent way. He was one of the
founding members of Indian National Congress and pioneered in advocating
Quit India Movement. He was also the first Home Minister and Deputy
Prime Minister of Independent India. He was thus one of the Greatest
Freedom Fighters of India.
7. Subhas Chandra Bose aka Netaji
Subahas
Chanra Bose also known as Netaji was the man behind Indian National
Army then Azad Hind Fauz, He conceived the idea of India’s army even
before the independence and thus made sure that he selects the best men
who can fight with him against the Britishers. He attacked the British
Rule during World War II so that it gets difficult for Britishers to
fight war on two ends. Unlike other Freedom Fighters Netaji Subash
Chandra Bose led an armed struggle against the Britishers. He was
followed and admired by a lot of younger Freedom Fighters of India.
6. Lal Bahadur Shastri
Lal
Bahadur Shastri was an active figure in the Independence movement for
India. He entered the fight for Independence with the support of Gandhi
ji and then fought for the rights of peasants and farmers. He was jailed
twice for the fight of Independence but he stuck to his mission of
Independence. He became the second prime minister of Independent India
and was known for his integrity and truthfulness.
5. Chandrashekhar Azad
Chandrashekhar
Azad was one of the most prominent Indian Freedom Fighter and he
founded the very famous Hindustan Republican Association. He picked up
handful of fearless freedom fighters that had the courage and abilities
to fight the British Government. Freedom Fighter Bhagat Singh is also
often referred to as Chandrashekhar Azad’s finding. He was extremely
intelligent and thus able to devise plans that uprooted the British Raj.
He was ultimately killed by the Police before India could get
independence.
4. Dr. Rajendra Prasad
Dr.
Rajendra Prasad was although a lawyer by profession but he left law to
join Independence Movement against Britishers. He was one of the first
members of Indian National Congress, also he was one of the most active
members in the Champaran revolt. He wanted India to become socially
reformed, and he also helped people in the 1914 floods. He wanted India
to remain unified and thus had a lot of discussion with the opposing
members. Although his wish to keep India unified couldn’t get fulfilled
but he was an active participant in drafting Indian Constituency. Dr.
Rajendra Prasad was the first President of the independent India.
3. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru
Pt.
Jawaharlal Nehru was a man who fought for independence with his power
and influence, he was the barrister and soon became the president of
Indian National Congress. His association with Gandhi ji was long one
and the power of both of them helped fight against the Ruthless British
rule. He was part of non-cooperation movement which was mainly focused
over the anti-governmental measures been taken by Britishers to surpass
the poor society of India. Nehru was also the man that brought in
cooperation of international community that pressurized Britishers to
leave India. He was also part of civil disobedience moment. Similar to
Gandhi Ji he advocated non violent behavior. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru became
the first Prime Minister of the independent India.
2. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma
Gandhi was the greatest Freedom Fighters of India, he advocated simple
living and high think mythology. Gandhi practiced non violent behavior,
and focused on helping people through civil disobedience. Gandhi
inspired more movements then any other Freedom Fighter and had the
highest mass following. He supported peasants fight against the British
Government through his simple ways that made him immensely popular among
the people of India and was followed like God. He promoted philosophy
of Satyagraha and Ahinsa. Also Gandhi has been critized by many for not
stopping India and Pakistan’s diversion.
1. Shaheed Bhagat Singh
Shaheed
Bhagat Singh, was the youngest Freedom Fighter at the time of his death
in this list (just 23 years). But it’s not the years that actually
count but the work that has been done. In his short life he was the man
that actually forced Britishers to leave India. He was single handedly
responsible for the end of British Rule. Unlike other Freedom Fighters
he didn’t believe in Non Violence. Bhagat Singh was part of numerous
organizations, out of which the most prominent been Hindustan Republican
Association. He pleasing personality and never die attitude made him
hugely popular and a hero of both Young and Old. He was hanged at the
age of 23 years but that gave the fight for Indian Independence a new
start since a lot of New Freedom Fighters arose after seeing the death
of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Hence Bhagat Singh is undoubtedly the greatest
Freedom Fighter of India.
